Biography
Richard Quick is one of the most respected coaches in the world. Since being named the national coach for USA Swimming in 1986, he has represented the United States at nearly every international swimming competition.
In August of 2007, Richard enters his 31st season as an NCAA Division I head coach as he returns to Auburn University for his second stint at the helm of the Tigers’ men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. During his career, Richard has coached a total of 12 teams to NCAA titles—seven at Stanford and five at Texas—tied for the most ever in Division I NCAA coaching.
As the head coach of three Olympic teams and an assistant coach on three more, his swimmers, which include gold medalists Jenny Thompson and Rowdy Gaines, have brought home more than a hundred medals. Richard has also coached Team USA at the World Championships (four times), Goodwill Games, Pan Pacific Championships (three times), World University Games, and Pan American Games.

Richard’s success spreads beyond the pool as those outside of the sports world realize the value of his unique motivational philosophy. By teaching how to apply the principles of successful leadership and personal development that he has taught to the world’s best athletes, Richard is able to help individuals in all walks of life identify their goals and make consistent steps towards attaining them. He has presented seminars to management at Fortune 500 corporations, as well as major civic groups.
